The owner of the Huruma building which collapsed on Friday night has finally been arrested. Samuel Kamau surrendered himself at Pangani Police Station in Nairobi.
Kamau, who reportedly owns four other buildings close to the ill-fated one, was then taken in for interrogation.
His arrest follows strict orders by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery after the tragic accident, which displaced close to 1000 households.
Rescue operations by the Kenya Red Cross Society are still continuing and the death toll has since reached 21 while 65 other people are unaccounted for.
